Where Are We Going?
Vision 2030
We can attract growth that can fuel our budget for years to come. With the beauty of the Fox River as our backdrop, we can promote the walkability of our downtown and neighborhoods as well as our public art installations, galleries, and creative spaces, along with a fantastic library and great local cuisine. When people visit, they will experience the historic architecture, the cleanliness, and safety of our public spaces, vibrant small businesses, and the friendly, welcoming spirit of our residents. Simply put, Waukesha has charm. Together, we can construct a growth plan that makes financial sustainability inevitable.
Issues
Keep Waukesha affordable and financially solvent.
Grow our city by promoting development of our many underutilized parcels thus expanding our tax base. Be ever mindful of the hardworking taxpayer and protect their wallets.
Maintain public safety.
Enforce the laws we have and properly maintain public properties to create safer public spaces including our downtown.
Preserve and enhance the charm.
Promote architectural beauty in new developments that honors the historic flavor of our built environment. Focus streetscape plans to fit human scale rather than vehicle scale for greater appeal.
Eco-friendly practices that lead to long-term viability.
Creatively explore ways we can do more with less. Reduce chemical usage where possible to improve our environment.
Shop Local
If we want to make America great, then we buy products online that were made in China, we are making China great. When we shift our focus to support Waukesha entrepreneurs and help local store owners succeed, we make Waukesha great. Together, if we have a hyper-local focus, we make our community stronger, and we contribute toward making America greater.
Beautify Waukesha
Waukesha has outstanding natural features and some historic architecture, which contributes to making our city beautiful. We each can do our part in keeping our streets and neighborhoods beautiful with simple but extraordinary efforts to refuse to litter. Bring your trash home with you. Everybody wins when our city shines.
Rats
Let’s take up the welcome mat when it comes to rats. Working together, we can reduce the rat population. For your home, make sure to seal entry points as rats can squeeze through very small gaps. Keep garbage in pest-proof containers, remove fallen fruit, for a time eliminate bird feed if you have rats in your yard, and make sure you leave no pet food out.
It also helps to keep your home and yard clean, removing debris and overgrown vegetation. Everyone must do their part.
